GREENWOODS STATE BANK RECEIVES RIO, WI. BRANCH APPROVAL .

Greenwoods State Bank of Lake Mills, WI. recently received FDIC and Wisconsin DFI approval for its planned Rio, WI. Branch. The Bank plans to officially open the branch for business on March 19th at a temporary site while construction of the new branch building is in progress. Scheduled completion of the new facility is during the 4th Quarter of 2008.

Greenwoods CEO Mark Melum stated,” We are extremely excited about our first branch site and look forward to becoming an integral part of the Rio and surrounding community. Our goal is to provide Rio with a hometown bank that is committed to the community and its economic development and that will provide customers with a full array of products and services”. He went on to say,” The opening of the Rio Branch is a fitting way for Greenwoods State Bank to celebrate our 125th year of Wisconsin Community banking”.

Bank co-founder Dan Strause, who is a Rio resident, says that the community has expressed a desire to have another community bank service Rio for quite some time. “I began discussing the opportunity of a hometown bank in Rio over 5 years ago. The community is excited about the prospect of Greenwoods as a strong and participating partner in its economic future”.

Rio, located northeast of Madison in Columbia County, had a community bank until 1986 when the Rio/Fall River Bank was acquired by the then, First National Bank. Greenwoods State Bank is a 125 year old bank currently serving Lake Mills and Jefferson County along with Dane and Columbia Counties. The Bank plans a future branch expansion in Dane County within the next three years.
