Dr. Slavens was born and raised in England. She received a degree from the London School of Occupational Therapy and worked as an occupational therapist for several years. In 1981, she immigrated to the United States and subsequently gained U.S. Citizenship.
In 1986, Dr. Slavens graduated from the University of Iowa with a Doctorate in Dental Surgery. Upon graduation, she began her career in Dentistry as an associate with Dr. Cary Gillingham at his office in Watertown, WI. In December 1986, she purchased Dr. Gillingham’s satellite office located in Lake Mills, WI. Within a few years, she relocated her office to the Lake Mills Medical Center. To better serve the growing dental needs of Lake Mills and its surrounding community, she has recently moved her practice, Dental Associates of Lake Mills, Inc., to a newly constructed office.
Dr. Slavens is a current member, and past-President, of the Jefferson County Dental Society and is a current Board member of the “Free” Community Dental Clinic, which will be opening soon in Lake Mills. She also serves as a vestry member at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Watertown, WI.
